GPS Soil Sampling in Vale of York
A thin layer of soil holds roots, water and nutrients along with organic matter and millions of organisms. It’s the lifeblood of farmland. Healthy soil absorbs water and carbon dioxide and contains everything needed to produce quality food, that’s why it is essential that the condition of the soil being used for agricultural and arable farming is assessed and analyzed through soil sampling in the Vale of York.
In early September Eco Prospects carried out soil sampling in the Vale of York. The Vale of York is an area of flat land which is a major agricultural area. The specific area that we were assessing covered 500 acres of arable land. It was heavy clay ground. As you can see from some of the photographs, we used GPS soil sampling. To sample the soil the area covered is divided into sampling zones. Probes are used to collect a uniform amount of soil at any given depth. Each zone is sampled independently and then analyzed with the other samples to get an overview of the entire sampling zone.
Soil sampling in the Vale of York enables us to identify the differences in topography, nutrient application rates, soil type and texture as well as soil tillage. The results of our findings informed the advice that we gave to our client. With the information obtained from GPS soil sampling, we were able to put together a nutrient management plan and make various recommendations to ensure soil fertility.
All the advice that we provide, and practices carried out are impartial and supplied by an independent FACTS qualified advisor. To find out more about the GPS soil sampling we provide call us on 0779 9576590.
