About Us
Eco Prospects delivers personal, practical support and advice. Our priority is to be a trusted advocate for your business: for profit, efficiency and sustainability.
This invariably starts with soil testing (by farm, field or hectare) so you have a clear understanding of your soil’s health, before extending out into wider management plans focused on soil and nutrients.
We have excellent understanding of Cumbrian agriculture and the broader context of 21st Century farming and leaving a positive farming legacy for the coming generations.
Ben Goad is the man behind Eco Prospects.
Having attended Harper Adams Agricultural College, Ben has subsequently worked in soil nutrition. His passion and enthusiasm for soil health, crop nutrition and water quality are obvious when you speak to him.
This passion and enthusiasm are underpinned by a vast amount of knowledge and experience that he has acquired over the last 15 years working in soil and crop nutrition. He has worked with everything ranging from lime to organic wastes, manures, composts and digestate, all of which have been applied within agronomic and regulatory requirements. Based on his experience and training, he is familiar with a range of farming systems and nutrient issues.
Ben decided he wanted to have a “hands on” approach and have a more personal interaction with his clients. The intention was to provide a bespoke and cost-effective service closely tailored to his clients’ requirements, and so Eco Prospects was formed.
As a result of his advice and input, many farms that Eco Prospects has worked with have seen positive results, such as an increase in yield and the quality of their soil. In turn, this has led to an improvement in their gross margins.
While recognising the advantages of using old practices, he is keen to embrace new ways of improving soil health and so is eager to combine the two. Learning from the past but adapting for the future, he keeps up to date with the latest developments around agricultural waste.
Ben is Fertiliser Advisor Certification and Training Scheme (FACTs) certified and keeps up with CPD points to maintain his professional register status. Having this certification means he understands the principles and practice of crop nutrition, fertiliser recommendations and nutrient planning. So, you can be assured that your soils and crop health will benefit from comprehensive experience and knowledge, and your goals will be met.
Ben can also help you understand the opportunities and challenges from water quality and environmental schemes e.g. countryside stewardship, sustainable farming incentives, farming rules for water, and ELMs.
Being personable and approachable, Ben is able to build relationships with his clients, but he is also reassuringly knowledgeable in his field of expertise, so you can trust the advice that he gives.
